  1. Moe Got Proposed To! – The Bert Show | Mortgagelenderfortcollins
    July 7, 2019 @ 3:49 am

[…] Exclusive: Jeff Dauler Breaks His Silence On Why He left Q100. – In November, Q100 Bert Show listeners were stunned when executive producer and co-host Jeff Dauler abruptly departed the airwaves after nearly 15 years for a new contract role at radio rival Star 94. Dauler, who goes under contract with Star 94 on February 1, will likely begin broadcasting on Star 94’s airwaves in March. […]

  2. Bert Weiss is loving radio again nine months after Jeff Dauler’s sudden exit | Radio & TV Talk
    August 19, 2016 @ 12:36 am

[…] He said he would never have left the way Dauler did and jump to a rival station. (In Dauler’s defense, I am the one who let the cat out of the bag prematurely. A colleague heard a rumor last November that Dauler was going to Star so I contacted both Dauler and Weiss. Weiss asked Dauler directly about the rumor and Dauler was forced to deflect since the deal had not yet closed. At the time, Dauler felt neglected by a distracted Weiss during contract negotiations and wasn’t intending to leave until he felt like he wasn’t getting proper respect. He, in fact, had been working without a contract for more than eight months by the time he left. Dauler was also drawn to Star by the fact his former Q100 boss had just joined the station. More here about that.) […]

Hey Jeff I plan on listening to you and Jenn, I got turn off listening to the new crew at the Burt Show their topics wasn’t funny and seems very inappropriate on some of the subject matters, I think they lost the Magic. When the old crew was at the Bert Show Best, Maybe you can get Carter back on board, I know you Jenn will be back on the map in Atlanta.

I think you should have at least let your friend, co-worker of 15 years, Bert, a little heads up of what may have been on the horizon. There is no way you quit on Monday with the Bert Show and didn’t already have something lined up with Star 94. You were not thinking about your friendship with Bert who basically made you who you are on the radio airwaves. Not a true friend!!

I have really missed Jeff’s “impishness” – he was the Funny in the Real.Funny. of the show. The Bert Show isn’t the same. I have heard the new guy….so far…meh. Will definitely tune in to hear Jeff and hope he stays his same, cynical, disbelieving, funny self!

If he wasn’t under contract anymore, then how did he still have a non compete clause?

Jeff did exactly what I would have done. To this day, if an employer lets my contract expire then I am officially on the market. By not signing me BEFORE my deal ends, you have just told me what I am worth to you, and I WILL leave.

I had one employer assume I’d work without a contract, but when my contract expired I packed my desk and left, never to return. They tried to sue me but there was nothing to hold me since I was no longer under contract. I went on the air at a new station three weeks later and destroyed my old employer.

Classy guy. Negotiations with a competitor are difficult in any industry. To clarify a conquest ion above about using star for financial leverage last contract. If Jeff had a right to match clause, as he did, then it was out of his control. It’s like a very scary game of chicken – and you’re not even in the game because it’s up to the two “bidding companies” to evaluate your worth and present what you hope are fair deals – your livelihood is on the line. Been there and a company acted on their right to match clause which could leave the perception you used the other station to up the ante when you did not. What if you really wanted to leave and couldn’t? It happens.

Nothing but the best to you buddy. Miss seeing you every morning.

He said he would do either afternoon drive or mornings, but at the end he mentions people switching their morning habits. There’s no question he’s going against Bert, he gave it away.

Hmmm I wish him well, but I wonder why he waited the same week the Bert show brought in his replacement to share his side of the story. Seems like he wanted to make sure the focus on him.

One could say the same about Bert back when Jenn Hobby left and he shared that he had a drinking problem, which took the focus away from Jenn’s departure…but he still shares his current drinking stories. I appreciate Jeff sharing the story and he never throws Bert under the bus, on the contrary he empathizes with him.

No comments about the Jenn Hobby rumors? She left WKHX and it was speculated that she would join Jeff on-air.

Interesting to find out what happened. Most of the time this happens listeners are left in the dark. Rich two questions I wash you had asked. First what about Jenn, will she be joining Jeff? Also if I’m understanding Jeffs answer about not going to STAR before Jeff just used them to get a raise from Q100 right? That kinda sucks.

Great article! Thanks for writing it. What a shame Jeff didn’t get the contract when he should have. Lots of companies loose great employees for lack of appreciation…happens everyday.

Umm…why should he have taken a pay decrease. More listeners, been at the job for 10 years and they offer him a lower contract. He did what he had to do. Most people expect raises for excellent job performance. He did what was right.
